In this season of gratitude, ABEM celebrates the many individuals advancing the specialty of Emergency Medicine. In October, 1,176 physicians attained ABEM certification—an extraordinary achievement that reflects a deep commitment to providing the highest quality emergency care. We’re also grateful for the volunteers, certified physicians, and innovators whose ongoing contributions strengthen our shared mission.
ABEM also continues its commitment to transparency and continuous improvement with the recent publication of program-specific exam pass rates. These data reflect extensive feedback from residents, educators, and specialty leaders, and will support programs in fostering excellence and accountability in training. View pass rates.
Looking ahead, preparations continue for the launch of the new Certifying Exam in 2026 for physicians to become certified. This next-generation assessment, designed to reflect the real-world practice of Emergency Medicine, will replace the Oral Exam. Resources, including sample cases, debrief videos, and reference materials, are available to help physicians prepare. Explore Certifying Exam resources.
Thank you for your continued partnership as ABEM works to advance the specialty and support every physician who strives for excellence in Emergency Medicine.
