Emergency Department Accreditation Program

ACEP is piloting an Emergency Department Accreditation Program (ADAP) to help establish transparency among hospitals with EDs that meet key criteria and provide the best care possible. Diane L. Gorgas, M.D., ABEM President, will have a key role as a member of the ADAP Advisory Board. Learn more about this new program soon!

Case developers have been hard at work developing the new Certifying Exam. Sample case videos, case summaries, and even scoring information are now available.

ABEM Volunteers Elevating the Specialty

Did you know public and patient perspectives are being included in the development of the new Certifying Exam? Case development includes input from public members. Hear their perspectives: 

  • Sue Deaton, Certifying Exam Case Developer, shares the importance of talking with your patients to build trust.
  • Louis Mendoza, Certifying Exam Case Developer, shares the importance of patients knowing they will be listened to and heard.

Kudos for Supporting 70 Exams

Mark Meredith III MD

J. Mark Meredith III, M.D., has volunteered as an examiner at 70 Oral Certification Exams. He reached this milestone at the December 2024 Oral Certification Exam. During his many years of service, beginning as a new examiner in March, 1983, he has seen many changes and progress for ABEM’s Exam processes.
